To strengthen the management on water quality, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) has committed to promoting Water Safety Plan for Buildings (WSPB) to owners and property management agents on how to develop and implement WSPB in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. With support from the Advisory Committee on Water Supplies, the WSD launched a new voluntary scheme “Quality Water Supply Scheme for Buildings – Fresh Water (Management System)” (QMS) by integrating WSPB with the existing “Quality Water Supply Scheme for Buildings – Fresh Water (Plus)” (Q-Plus) on 6 November 2017.
Following the launch of the new scheme, we have suspended handling new and renewal applications for Q-Plus since 1 February 2018. At the same time, we strongly encourage all buildings and current certificate holders to join QMS. Buildings complying with the requirements as well as the terms and conditions of QMS will be awarded certificates with appropriate grade according to the current grading system.
To maintain good quality of water at the consumer taps and minimise the number of failures in the inside service, owners and property management agents are encouraged to continue with the good maintenance practices such as regular inspection of plumbing systems and cleansing of water tanks of their buildings etc.
