Educational Visits to Waterworks Installations by Schools or Groups

 The following waterworks facilities are now open to schools and organisations for visit by prior application:

# Due to repair and maintenance, visiting activities in Western Salt Water Service Reservoirs will be suspended from November 2024 to September 2025. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
*  To protect the safety of road users, the length and width of the group visit vehicle that will enter into this waterworks facility should not be greater than 7.5 m x 2.3 m (number of passengers should not be greater than 28).

Application Guidance Notes and Rules for Visit to Waterworks Installations

  1. Application shall be submitted at least ONE month prior to the date of visit, and only visits within the next SIX months could be reserved.
  2. Please refer to the booking schedule for the available visiting session. The schedule will be updated from time to time to reveal the latest situation of booking for the visits. Please be reminded that the schedule is for reference only, availability of visiting session is subject to change based on the actual number of applications.

  5. Participants shall arrange for their own transportation.

  7. Visits will be arranged on a first-come-first-served basis. To enable more interested parties to visit our facilities, if more than one application for visit is received from a school or an organisation in the same year, the WSD reserves the right to make special arrangements in response to the actual number of applications.
  8. Applicants should be registered schools or non-profit making organisations. Schools or organisations are not allowed to make profit by arranging visit tours to WSD’s facilities.
  9. Confirmation will be given by the WSD for all successful applications. Applicants should also contact our staff at 2829 4799 or 2294 2658 one month before the date of visit for assurance of the visit. If not, the reservation may be cancelled without further notice.
  10. The visit will be cancelled automatically if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 or above; or Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal or above is in force within 3 hours before the visit is scheduled to begin.
  11. The WSD reserves the right to cancel any pre-arranged visit by giving an advance notice.
  12. A notice for cancellation is required at least one week before the date of visit if the school or organisation wants to cancel the visit booking. If the school or organisation does not show up at the allocated time of visit without any prior notice, the WSD reserves the right to refuse applications from the relevant school and organisation for visiting the water treatment works / salt water service reservoirs in the future.
  13. The WSD is exempted from all the liabilities of claims, costs, damages and expenses in respect of any damage, injury or loss to the participants or their properties occasioned by or in any way arising from the visit or any purpose pertaining to or associated with the visit.
  14. Participants should comply with all the anti-epidemic measures of COVID-19 set out by the Government and the following arrangements set out by WSD throughout the visit.  
    1. We endeavour to offer a safe environment and enjoyable experience for all of the participants. Participants should ensure that their health conditions are good on the date of visit. If there is any discomfort or develop obvious symptoms (e.g. fever, cough, shortness of breath, vomiting and diarrhoea), it is not recommended to participate in the visit.
    2. For the sake of safety, staff of the Water Supplies Department (WSD) may reject anyone whose health conditions are considered unsuitable for participation and those who have symptoms of infectious diseases from participating in the visit.
    3. Staff of WSD will measure the body temperature of the participants on their arrival at waterworks facilities. Participants will be denied entry to the waterworks facilities and denied participation in the visit if their body temperature is higher than 37.5°C.

Personal Data Collection Statement

  1. Purpose of Collection: The personal data provided by means of this form will only be used for processing the application of visiting facilities of the Water Supplies Department (WSD) and disseminating WSD information.
  2. Classes of Transferees: The personal data you provide by means of this form may be disclosed to other government bureaux and departments and other related organisations for the purposes mentioned in point 1 above.
  3. Access to Personal Data: You have a right of access and correction with respect to personal data as provided for in sections 18 and 22 and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Your right of access includes the right to obtain a copy of your personal data provided in this form subject to payment of a fee.
