Commemoration Ceremony of 50th Anniversary of Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong, Roving Exhibition and Commemorative Video

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Dongjiang water supply to Hong Kong. The Governments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Guangdong Province launched a commemoration ceremony at the Central Government Offices on 28 May 2015. The Chief Executive, Mr Leung Chun-ying, the Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Zhu Xiaodan, and other relevant officials of Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region attended the ceremony and the new Dongjiang Water Supply Agreement was also signed by both governments at the ceremony.

The Water Supplies Department will organise roving exhibitions in various districts of Hong Kong between June and September 2015 to introduce the history and development of Dongjiang water supply, providing an opportunity for the older generations to look back nostalgically on the history of the Dongjiang water supply, and for the younger generations to appreciate the efforts of their predecessors in ensuring a reliable water supply as well as the importance of water resources development and protection.

The commemorative video for the 50th anniversary of Dongjiang water supply to Hong Kong has also been uploaded on our website. You are welcome to enjoy the video.
