In order to convey a proper and effective message about water quality and introduce the water treatment process to the public, the WSD has been organizing open days of different water treatment works. This year, open day was held at Ma On Shan Water Treatment Works for public visit on 20 November. The open day attracted many students, professional organizations, district council members and public etc. to participate.
Visitors were guided by our voluntary staff for a technical tour on the whole water treatment process from raw water inlet to filtration. This year, Exhibition Gallery showcased a series of treatment works related exhibition introducing "Raw Water Supply System in Hong Kong", "Water Treatment Process", "Development of Water Treatment Technology in Hong Kong" and "Innovation at Water Treatment Works" etc. The exhibition enabled visitors to know more about fresh water process technology and history of different Treatment Works comprehensively and thoroughly.
Besides, visitors could know more about WSD's effort on water quality monitoring and sustainable development through the exhibition of "Innovation at Water Treatment Works". It introduced self-innovated Zebrafish Bio-monitoring System, Olfactometer and Tuen Mun Hydropower Plant etc.
