In order to introduce the water treatment process and the associated technologies of our water treatment works to the public, the Water Supplies Department hosted a Ma On Shan Water Treatment Works Open Day on 21 April 2018. The activity was successfully held and attracted near 1200 visitors including students, district council members and general public.
Visitors were guided by tour guides for a technical tour on the whole water treatment process from raw water inlet to filter beds. They also tried a sip of drinking water treated by the water treatment works at control room. Various exhibition booths were set up at the exhibition gallery to showcase different newly developed projects of the department and to raise public awareness on water conservation, including “Floating Solar Power System”, “Desalination”, “Smart Water Supply Network and Leak Detection Technique”, “Automatic Meter Reading System”, “Olfactometer Laboratory” and “Water Conservation - Past‧Present‧Future” etc.
