In celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Water Supplies Department (WSD) organized two-day Ma On Shan Water Treatment Works Open Day on 8 and 9 October 2022. The activity was successfully held and attracted near 2,700 members of public to visit, including students and professional groups.
WSD established two special exhibitions in the Open Day. “Dongjiang Water Supply” exhibition displayed the precious historical photos showing the situation of water rationing in 1960’s and Dongjiang Water Supply Scheme. The “Drive for Excellence – The Innovation Milestones for the 21st Century” exhibition introduced the overview of water supply in Hong Kong and showcased a number of development projects in recent years echoing with the long-term city development as well as building Hong Kong as a green and sustainable smart city. A number of exhibits and instruments, including floating solar panels, in-line inspection robot, and leak detection instruments, were displayed. WSD’s staff also demonstrated operation of these instruments to allow the public have a better understanding of the work of WSD and the importance of water conservation.
