On 12 November 2008, WSD briefed the media on the Total Water Management (TWM) strategy in Hong Kong. Formulated for ensuring sustainable use of water resources, the TWM strategy helps Hong Kong to better prepare for future uncertainties such as acute climate changes and low rainfall, while enhancing the territory's role as a good partner of other municipalities in the Pearl River Delta in promoting sustainable use of water. In the press briefing, WSD emphasised that active public participation in water conservation would be of utmost importance for successful implementation of the TWM programme. WSD would roll out a voluntary "Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS)" to help the public choose water saving devices. A TWM brochure may be downloaded from our website for more details.
