Welcome Message

Ir MA Lee Tak, JP, Chairman, IWAHKWelcome to the homepage of the International Water Association (IWA) Regional Committee of Hong Kong, China (IWAHK).

Water is the lifeblood of our world and is unquestioningly essential to the civilization of mankind. Emerging challenge for all national governments in the 21st Century is to combat with the rapidly diminishing clean water source due to pollution caused by urbanization, industrial development and excessive exploitation of natural resources. There is a need to help the people in developing countries to reach and afford safe drinking water as soon as possible.

As a strong international association of water experts and practitioners, IWA is committed to promote best practices for sustainable and effective water management in this globe and has been playing an active role since its formation in September 1999. Its scope of service encompasses clean water and sanitation, wastewater and pollution issues, science and practice, utilities, regulation, management, planning, operation and many others such that it could be able to achieve its objectives in an integrated and professional manner.

Formed in August 2003, IWAHK has taken up the holistic responsibility of representing all interests in the water sector and co-ordinating all IWA activities in the HKSAR. Being a Governing Member of IWA, the IWAHK is obliged to present views of local IWA members from academies, industrial enterprise, engineering consultants, contractors and government departments etc. and exercise its own right while serving the IWA Governing Board for the interest of its members.

The launch of this website is to introduce the work of IWAHK, help promote activities of IWA in the HKSAR and network local IWA members as well as stakeholders in the water industry.

You are welcomed to browse through the website to gain a better understanding of our work. IWAHK is only in its early stage of development. Your comments and suggestions are being awaited to fill our gaps.

Enjoy your time with us !

Ir MA Lee Tak
Chairman, IWAHK
